In December of 2010, Sun Country Airlines entered into a reorganization plan due to bankruptcy - but that does not mean they are out of business. Indeed, it is a positive sign that a reorganization plan was approved by all parties involved. That is hardly a surprise considering the national and international awards and recognition this airline has received over the years for the highest quality service.

Sun Country Airlines was purchased by investors and scheduled flights returned to normal in 2002. Those schedules included hot spot destinations such as Los Angeles, Orlando and Denver to name a few. It wasn't too long after that they increased destinations to include New York City and Washington DC. Vacations and business trips to warmer places quickly built them a solid reputation with passengers. One of Sun Country's primary concern since returning to the market has been customer service. Their aircraft are all known to be highly fuel efficient and friendly to the environment. This company tries to be socially responsible, and that includes a sense of responsibility to the planet. The high degree of fuel efficiency stems from using the latest in available technology. Going beyond fuel efficiency, there is also noise economy and concerns, and they once again have the right engines for the lowest amount of noise generated. The type of aircraft used by Sun Country Airlines is the Boeing 737NG - a highly environmentally friendly airline. When it comes to carbon emissions generated per seat/passenger, the 737NG is extremely low.

December 2009, Sun Country gave a real treat to almost 100 kids with a fairy tale flight to the North Pole. So it is no surprise they named it: A Flight To The North Pole. That was a joint effort between Sun Country Airlines and The United Way's Big Brother and Sister programs. They succeeded wildly with making those children very happy for the holidays. The plane taxied up and down the runway for about half an hour, and the Sun Country employees treated the kids to a big story about flying to the North Pole. Sun Country Airlines is in the middle of bankruptcy reorganization, but everyone including their creditors are very optimistic. All of their accumulated wisdom and experience will only serve them well in this process. The reason they know what action to pursue is a result of their vast aviation experience. It is unfortunate that economic events in recent years have had this effect on so many businesses. Once all processes are in place, then we are confident that we can look for a return to service as quickly as possible.
