With over weight levels being at an all time high, the increased prevalence
of type 2 diabetes is growing at a mind boggling rate, and will
only deteriorate.
Between 2001 and 2002, the identification of diabetes went from
5.5 per cent of Americans to an alarming 6.5 %. In
only 12 months!
In general, 12 million People in the usa have been diagnosed and
an additional 5 million Americans have diabetes and don't know
it. And yet another 12 millions are on their way to type 2
diabetes resulting from impaired glucose levels.
Not being aware is the most unfortunate due to the fact risks of untreated
diabetes puts us at a terrible danger of complications
which includes but not limited to blindness, amputations and
in the end death.
The stickler is, that type 2 diabetes is very nearly altogether
preventable. Health professionals say eat a smaller amount, eat much better and
workout. The figures clearly show just what amount of Americans are
at present overweight.
Statistically, people are now living much longer, and it has
been going up for decades. But this won't carry on if
type 2 diabetes is not put in order.
We are a gluttonous population and ultimately it is influencing
how we live and how many years we live.
And unfortunately, the diabetes crisis is not only an US
problem. It is spreading around the world with epidemic accounts in
Asia, the Middle East and the Caribbean.
It is approximated that by 2025, the number of diabetics
world-wide will increase to 380 million. And diabetes is now
affecting more of the young and middle-aged populace in
developing nations in between the ages of 40 and 59.
